PURPOSE: A robot cleaner and a cleaning method thereof with a function for caring companion animals are provided to perform cleaning by considering feeling of the companion animal and a moving route and to improve quality of life. CONSTITUTION: A robot cleaner(100) with a function for caring companion animals comprises a position receiver(111), a moving route saving unit(112), a position transfer driving unit(113), and a control unit(122). The position receiver receives the position of a companion animal. The moving route saving unit stores the position information of the companion animal which is received from the position receiver. The moving route saving unit stores a moving route by calculating the moving route of the companion animal. The position transfer driving unit transfers along the moving route and returns in a reverse direction of the moving route. The control unit controls the position receiver, the moving route saving unit, and the position transfer driving unit.
