<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical recording medium exhibiting excellent recording and reproduction characteristics. <P>SOLUTION: In a multi-layered optical recording medium with plural recording layers, a recording layer that is mainly composed of at least one kind of material selected from niobium nitride and manganese nitride is provided, and a transmissive recording and reproduction function layer has no translucent reflection layer.
