<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent electric power or heat from being wasted in a heating portion. <P>SOLUTION: An Image recording apparatus includes: a recording portion for recording an image on a recording medium; a conveyance section for conveying the recording medium in a conveyance direction; and the heating portion for heating the recording medium. Here, the heating portion being extendable in a direction crossing the conveyance direction according to an area to be heated.
