An active portable safety illumination device for alerting traffic of an approaching vehicle such as a train or the like, the device including: a light housing adapted for releasably attaching to a part of an approaching vehicle; an LED light illumination assembly mountable within the light housing, the illumination assembly having: a longitudinal hollow body having open ends, the hollow body defining an air flow pathway therethrough; a rotatable shaft suspended longitudinally within the body; a pair of oppositely disposed fan members mounted on opposite ends of the shaft adjacent open ends of the hollow body; an electricity generator mounted on the shaft intermediate the pair of fan members; and at least one LED operatively connected to the electricity generator; wherein the light housing includes at least one LED locator window for locating the at least one LED in the housing for dispersing light; and wherein as the approaching vehicle moves, air flowing in the ends of the hollow body and through the air flow pathway, causes rotation of the fans which drives electricity generation by the electricity generator, whereby the LED is operated during movement to illuminate the light housing and thereby providing a visual indicator of approaching vehicle. |
