A synchronous machine (1) has a rotor which is equipped with a high-temperature-supraconducting material (7), wherein a pole pair number p of the rotor (2) can be changed by changing magnetization which is frozen into the high-temperature-supraconducting material (7). In a method, for this purpose the high-temperature-supraconducting material (7) is firstly warmed above its transition temperature, then a magnetic field for impressing magnetization is applied to the high-temperature-supraconducting material (7), which magnetization is suitable for generating a 2p-pole magnetic field with a changed pole pair number p, and consequently the high-temperature-supraconducting material (7) is cooled to a temperature below its transition temperature when the magnetic field is applied. The invention can be used particularly advantageously for machines with a high torque, wind power plants, gearless ships' drives, industrial drives, ships' generators, power plant generators and high-speed machines. |
