<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compressor configured to further reduce power loss and exhibit excellent durability. <P>SOLUTION: In the compressor, a valve plate 27 includes a seal surface 27a, a recessed groove 273, a receiving surface 27b, and a support surface 27d. The seal surface 27a is flush with a fixed surface 271, and is brought into annular contact with a back surface 252 of a valve part 255 around an intake port 23a. The recessed groove 273 is located outside the seal surface 27a and recessed from the fixed surface 271, while separating both edges of the valve part 255 from the bottom thereof. The receiving surface 27b is flush with the fixed surface 271, and is brought into contact with the back surface 252 in a tip area of the valve part 255. The support surface 27d is flush with the fixed surface 271, and is brought into contact with the back surface 252 in a central area of the valve part 255.
