<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that can limit consumption of color developer to a desired consumption or lower with high accuracy. <P>SOLUTION: When monochrome printing or color printing is performed on the basis of image data after gamma correction that is output from a gamma correction processing unit 451 for applying gamma correction on image data on the basis of gamma correction information, a toner counter 47 calculates consumption of color toner during color printing on the basis of image data before the gamma correction by the gamma correction processing unit 451.
