<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To determine possibility of preignition, before the preignition actually occurs (or before frequency of the actual preignition is increased) in a predetermined low-speed high-load region where preignition is likely to occur, when the low-speed high-load region is used. <P>SOLUTION: In using an intermediate load region lower than the low-speed high-load region (hereinafter called a preignition region) or the preignition region, if eccentricity of frequency distribution of a combustion speed parameter toward a high combustion speed side, with respect to a reference frequency distribution of the combustion speed parameter, is at a predetermined level or more, an internal combustion engine is determined that the preignition is likely to occur in the preignition region. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
