<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for easily and appropriately applying a lubricant according to the amount of wear of each part of a mold with a simple structure and to provide a lubricant sheet material to which the lubricant is easily and appropriately applied according to the amount of wear of the each part of the mold. <P>SOLUTION: The method for applying a lubricant includes: a step S1 of measuring the amount of wear of a mold M; a step S2 of molding the solid lubricant sheet material L based on a shape according to lubricant application parts Ma, Mb of the mold M and the amount of wear of the mold M; and a step S3 of arranging the lubricant sheet material L on the mold M for melting the lubricant sheet material L by heat. The lubricant sheet material L is solidified at normal temperature and maintains a predetermined shape, and is melt and applied by the heat when arranged on the mold.
