<p>Provided is a resistor which is capable of setting the resistance value to a desired value and which does not require fine tuning after machining; also provided is a resistor manufacturing method. A resistor (1) formed by processing an elongate plate-shaped metal resistance body is provided with: a groove portion (2) formed by machining a groove in the center portion on the back surface side, where said resistance body contacts a substrate, said groove having a first width L1 and a first thickness d1 and being perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the resistance body; a pair of electrodes (3, 3) formed on both ends of the groove portion (2); and a pair of notch portions (4, 4) formed by creating, in the lateral surfaces neighboring the groove portion (2) and opposite of each other, notches with a second width L2 wider than the first width L1.</p> |
