METHOD FOR CHARACTERIZING THE IMPRINT IN PZT-TYPE CERAMICS

The invention relates to a method for identifying and characterizing the imprint part condition on the direction (3) which may be overturned, at a certain voltage, in massive ceramics and thin layers of the PZT-type. According to the invention, the identification method is based on the direct connection between the condition of the imprint part which may be overturned by the maximum electric voltage, used for the said measurement of the PZT massive ceramic, and the stage of the non-saturated electrically remanent hysteresis curve, having the mentioned voltage as maximum working voltage. By examining the asymmetrical curves (7 and 8) and the symmetrical curve (9), there may be identified the existence of an imprint part which may be overturned by the maximum electric voltage used for the respective measurement, the sense and the size thereof, by the existence of a stage in the original curve as follows: in the quadrant wherein the sense of the imprint part which may be overturned by the maximum electric voltage used for the respective measurement coincides with the sense of the applied electric voltage, the polarization is higher, and in the quadrant wherein the sense of the imprint part which may be overturned by the maximum electric voltage used for the respective measurement is contrary to the electric voltage applied, the remanent polarization is lower, and the size of the imprint part which may be overturned by the maximum electric voltage used for the respective measurement is proportional to the original stage size of the remanent hysteresis curve, and in the case when the curve does not have original stages, the massive ceramic or the PZT-like thin layer does not show a detectable imprint part which may be overturned by the maximum electric voltage used for the respective measurement.
