This invention relates to overbased calcium carboxylate/carbonate compositions to be used in formulations for the stabilization of halogen containing polymers such as polyvinyl chloride (PVC) resins. In addition this invention relates to a process for the preparation of overbased calcium salts comprising the use of plasticizers as solvent and of linear aliphatic carboxylic acids.
