<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and method capable of effectively treating a COD or TOC component-containing liquid to obtain treated water low in the concentration of COD or TOC and capable of lowering the installation cost and running cost of the apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: This treatment apparatus includes a pretreatment apparatus 16 which receives a COD/TOC component-containing solution 12 to perform the flocculation and sedimentation treatment thereof and separates a supernatant solution from the treated solution, a first treatment tank 18 using a granular material comprising pumice as a biological carrier to perform the biological treatment of the supernatant solution, a second treatment tank 20 performing the biological treatment of the treated water of the first treatment tank using a granular material comprising diatomite as a biological carrier and a circulation mechanism 22 for returning the treated water of the second treatment tank to the first treatment tank. Then, the COD/TOC component-containing solution is treated while returning the treated water of the second treatment tank to the first treatment tank 5-15 times by the circulation mechanism before the treated water of the second treatment tank is discharged. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
