<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power supply unit with prefixed converter, capable of achieving high conversion efficiency, high reliability and cost reduction. <P>SOLUTION: A first DC-DC converter 50 generates a voltage to be supplied to a load R1. A prefixed converter 40 is connected to a pre-stage of the first DC-DC converter 50 and includes a boost chopper. A control section 70, when an input voltage into the prefixed converter 40 is lower than a predetermined reference value, operates the boost chopper to boost the input voltage. A second DC-DC converter 80 generates a control voltage.
