<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform good diaphragm control for preventing the reduction in image quality according to the amount of incident light. <P>SOLUTION: An imaging apparatus determines a maximum opening value of a diaphragm which is used for diaphragm control, based on information on the focal length and information on the amount of incident light.
