In a photoelectrode (20) for a dye-sensitized solar cell, sensitizing dye is carried on a functional semiconductor layer of a photoelectrode structural body that has a functional semiconductor layer (23) provided on a substrate (21). The photoelectrode is characterized in that: the functional semiconductor layer (23) has a roll-pressed layer; the surface of the roll-pressed layer has a roll-pressed trace extending parallel to the roll-pressed direction; and that the surface of the functional semiconductor layer has smaller surface roughness (Ra) in the first direction parallel to the roll-pressed direction than surface roughness (Ra) in the second direction that orthogonally intersects the first direction.
