The method includes: acquiring motion trace information about an object fingertip; and querying a pre-trained character model library according to the motion trace information, and converting the motion trace information into a corresponding character. The character input method, device and terminal based on an image sensing module provided in the present invention can meet the personalized demand of a user for a handheld terminal, and at the same time can realize rapid and accurate input of characters.
