PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device that can obtain a more excellent image.

SOLUTION: The display device is provided with a lighting device and a display part which utilizes light from the lighting device to perform image display. The lighting device has a light guide plate including a plurality of transparent layers which are in close contact and laminated with each other and a light source which makes illumination light incident from the end face of the light guide plate inward. One out of the plurality of transparent layers contains a plurality of scattering areas for scattering respective illumination light, and has a refractive index different from those of the other adjoining transparent layers.
