PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composition for efficiently forming a solid electrolyte layer by sintering under relatively low temperature conditions.

SOLUTION: A composition for forming a solid electrolyte layer for a lithium ion secondary battery according to the present invention contains first particles composed of lanthanum titanate, and second particles composed of lithium titanate. The average size of the first particles is preferably in the range of 50 nm to 300 nm. The average size of the second particles is preferably in the range of 10 nm to 50 nm.
