PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gesture recognition apparatus capable of reducing erroneous determination of an operation corresponding to a fingertip motion.

SOLUTION: A gesture recognition apparatus comprises: a detecting unit 13 that detects a locus of a fingertip position of a user from an acquired moving image; a setting unit 15 that sets an effective range for performing determination of a forwarding operation on the basis of the locus of the fingertip position; a determining unit 14 that determines whether the locus of the fingertip position corresponds to a forwarding operation when the locus of the fingertip position is included in the effective range; and a recognizing unit 16 that recognizes a gesture of the user on the basis of the forwarding operation when the locus of the fingertip position corresponds to the forwarding operation.
