<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cable laying method capable of safely and smoothly performing a cable laying construction at a small number of workers and at reduced costs. <P>SOLUTION: A hook 5 for hooking a cylinder 1 whose one end is opened in a trumpet shape is provided on the cylinder 1, and one end of a support belt 6 is mounted on an outer periphery of the cylinder 1. A coil-like hanger 7 is mounted to the support belt 6, and is fixed to the support belt 6 having slack at plural portions on one outer peripheral side to restrain elongation to a constant length. The other end of the support belt 6 is connected to a drum frame 8, and the hook 5 is hooked to a messenger wire 10 on a column. A lead wire is inserted in the cylinder 1 from a portion of the messenger wire 10, pulled down to a portion of the drum through inside of the coil-like hanger 7, and then connected to one end of a drop cable B wound around the drum.
