PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image encoding method for obtaining superior encoding efficiency in encoding of a depth map.

SOLUTION: An image encoding method is to predict and encode a depth map by using a depth prediction image macro block by an image encoder 1 for each macro block being a partial region constituting the depth map consisting of a depth value showing a distance from a view point for each pixel. The image encoding method includes: a calculation step for calculating the depth value on the basis of a parallax vector of a texture image macro block being a region corresponding to one macro block among texture images consisting of a luminance value for each pixel on one macro block and on photographing condition information including the distance between photographing devices and a focal distance of the photographing device by the image encoder 1; and a generating step for generating the depth prediction image macro block on the basis of the calculated depth value by the image encoder 1.
