<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an accumulation mechanism in contrast to conventional accumulation mechanisms where the amount of rotation and the rotational velocity of a paddlewheel are the same even when the size of the accumulation space differs, which may cause the paper currency to fall over when the amount of rotation is small or the rotational velocity is low as well as the accumulation space is wider than the paper currency, and which may cause a bad posture of the stored paper currency when the amount of rotation is large or the rotational velocity is high, conversely. <P>SOLUTION: A paper currency handling device comprises an accumulation mechanism for compiling and storing paper currency. The accumulation mechanism has: an accumulation space for storing paper currency; a paddlewheel that makes contact with one end of the paper currency and transports the paper currency toward the accumulation space; driving means that rotates the paddlewheel; an operating plate that changes the width of the accumulation space; and position detection means that detects the position of the operating plate. In addition, the amount of rotation or the rotational velocity of the driving means is changed on the basis of the position of the operating plate as detected by the position detection means. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
