912,416. Circuit assemblies. LICENTIA PATENT - VERWALTUNGS - G.m.b.H. July 28, 1960, No. 26338/60. Class 37. A crystal rectifier unit comprises a crystal rectifier, surrounded by an electrically - conducting protective casing, and a sub-assembly including a capacitor unit supported by and electrically connected to the protective casing and providing protection against steep rises in potential across the rectifier unit. A germanium or silicon rectifier 4 is positioned on a baseplate 8 and is surrounded by a protective casing 5 having a bushing 7 adapted to receive lead 6. On the inner surface of the casing 5 is formed a tubular capacitor 3, one electrode of which is the casing 5 to which is connected a resistor 2 so that the two auxiliary components 2, 3 form the circuit shown in Fig. 1. The resistor 2 may be a wire resistor unit or a carbon layer. Figs. 3a, 3b and Fig. 4 (not shown). In the first alternative the resistor is either a wire of waveshape mounted on the inner surface of an angular support of insulating material or a wire wound on an insulating annular support. In the arrangement of Fig. 4 (not shown), the resistance is mounted separately on an annular support of insulating material mounted on one end of the tubular capacitor. Fig. 5 shows an arrangement in which the auxiliary components are mounted externally on the casing 5 and are connected into the circuit of the rectifier 4 by means of plugs 10, 11. |
