A method for managing related asynchronous processes on such a computer system is disclosed. In use a process (400) initiates an asynchronous subordinate process (420) and transfers data and/or directives between itself and such subordinate process using an interface (410), the interface being responsible for synchronization (414) on termination of the subordinate process. The system finds particular use in a mainframe computer that operates with IBMRTM z/ArchitectureRTM, ESA/390 or ESA370 architectures. The method may be used to schedule file operations, convert data formats, encrypt or compress data or transmission of data over a network. |
