The housing (1) has a housing cover (3), a housing bottom (2), and side walls (4) formed as double walled extruded sections of the housing. The extruded sections comprise an inner wall (14) limited at an inner space (5) of the housing, an outer wall (15) limited at an outer space surrounding the housing and an intermediate rod (16). The intermediate rod connects the outer wall with the inner wall in a material-fit manner. The extruded sections are made from aluminum, steel, alloy and plastic. The extruded sections comprise a recess projected into the inner space. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a battery housing.
