PURPOSE: An image acquisition system for a patterning retarder is provided to precisely inspect the width and the straightness of a first polarization pattern area and a second polarization pattern by obtaining an image in which a brightness contrast between the first polarization pattern area and the second polarization pattern area is shown. CONSTITUTION: An image acquisition system(100) includes a patterning retarder(102), a lighting part(104), a first polarization part(106), a second polarization part(108), and a photographing part(110). The patterning retarder includes a base film(121), an orientated layer(123), and a liquid crystal coating layer(125). In the liquid crystal coating layer, a first polarization pattern part(127) which left-circularly polarizes light penetrating the first polarization part and a second polarization pattern part(129) which right-circularly polarizes light penetrating the first polarization part form a stripe shape and are alternately and repetitively arranged. The lighting part illuminates light in order to obtain the image of the patterning retarder. The first polarization part is arranged in parallel with the patterning retarder between the lighting part and the patterning retarder. The first polarization part is installed to be rotatable in a horizontal state and makes a first rotation angle which the first polarization part and the patterning retarder form, when rotating the first polarization part. The second polarization part is arranged in parallel with the patterning retarder between the patterning retarder and the photographing part. The second polarization part is installed to be rotatable in a horizontal state and makes a second rotation angle which the second polarizing part and the patterning retarder form. The photographing part obtains an image by photographing the patterning retarder using light penetrating the second polarization part.
