Protective coating for photovoltaic modules and method for its manufacture

The layer (10) has a set of flattened glass particles (16) aligned parallel to a layer surface (18), where the layer is made of transparent polymer, and bonding agent is added to the polymer. The glass particles are provided in a concentration of 10 % of the weight in the polymer and provided in varying sizes based on predetermined size distribution in the polymer. The particles have thickness from 2 to 3 micrometer. A set of surface additives is added to the bonding agent to reduce surface resistance of the glass particles. The glass particles are designed as flat chips. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a protecting layer for a photovoltaic module.
