A method of manufacturing a photovoltaic device and a photovoltaic device manufactured by using the method is provided. The method comprises performing edge isolation to form a groove at an edge portion of a rear surface of a semiconductor substrate (optionally using a laser) and etching the damage layer formed during the edge isolation on the groove portion.
