PURPOSE: A method and a device for monitoring a drive system are provided to improve the accuracy of monitoring by combining successive torque monitoring in a torque comparison block and coasting monitoring through an additional comparison block. CONSTITUTION: A method for monitoring a drive system comprises the following steps: comparing a maximum acceptable triggering variable(A maximum coasting) in the drive of coasting and a re-read triggering variable(A re-reading) from an output end(4); recognizing the error of the coasting drive when confirming the maximum acceptable triggering variable is smaller than the re-read triggering variable; and providing the re-read triggering variable to a drive engine correspondingly to a predetermined total torque(MG) required for the drive of the drive engine.
