CONSTITUTION: A method for determining the life expectancy of a battery cell determines the value of a physical parameter working on the battery cell and/or the execution number of a process generated in the battery cell. The value of the physical parameter and/or the execution number of the process is used as a base for determining the life expectancy. The physical parameter and/or the execution number of the process generated in the battery cell is determined during multiple operating cycles. The occurrence frequency number(f) of a specific value of the physical parameter and/or the frequency number(f) of the execution number of at least one specific process is stored.
