PURPOSE: A nonvolatile memory device and a method for operating a controller to control the same are provided to improve an operation speed by making planes independently program, read or erase data and stopping or performing an operation according to a priority. CONSTITUTION: A first plane(P1) and a second plane(P2) program, read or erase data. A data input and output circuit(150) outputs data from the first plane or the second plane to the outside and transmits the data from the outside to the first plane or the second plane through a common bus. When the first plane programs, reads, or erases the data, the data input and output circuit exchanges the data with the second plane through the common bus.
