The chip deflector (1) has a chip deflecting plate (3) and a locking mechanism (4), by which the chip deflecting plate is locked in the locked position above a parking position (P) at a housing (5) of a machine tool (2). The locking mechanism is stable by an energy accumulator in the locking position. The locking mechanism is held in the parking position of the chip deflecting plate against the force of the energy accumulator in the open position (OS). Independent claims are included for the following: (1) an arrangement with a fitting unit; and (2) a machine tool with a holding opening.
