A method of producing tubing of circular or only slightly oval cross-section from a material containing over 50% vulcanised rubber comprises extruding the tube 6 from a nozzle 2 and immediately conducting it through a heating chamber 3 on a conveyer belt 4 while maintaining its circular crosssection by keeping a slight gauge pressure in its interior. The tube may then be collected on a second conveyer 5 and cut into lengths, or coiled up. The pressure in the tube is regulated by passing compressed air through the nozzle 2. The tube is either pinched between rollers after vulcanising, or left open when air is blown through it to maintain the pressure. |
