PURPOSE: A method and an apparatus providing an alarm from a user terminal is provided to efficiently provide an alarm by using a different tracking method based on a distance to a user terminal and a speed of a user terminal. CONSTITUTION: A user terminal(101) starts an alarm system by receiving information about an alarm region(601) and estimate a geographical location coordinate using a GPS positioning tracking method(602). If the distance between the user terminal and the alarm region is greater than the second critical distance, the user terminal converts the GPS location tracking method into a substitute location tracking method(605). If the distance the user terminal and the alarm region is greater than the third critical distance is smaller than R+D, the user terminal continuously uses the GPS location tracking method(606). The GPS location tracking method can be repeated until the user terminal reaches a destination.
