PURPOSE: A parking assisting system is provided to reduce overlay of an unnecessary expected travelling trace, by overlaying the expected travelling trace of a vehicle after judging whether it is possible to part in a detected parking possible area. CONSTITUTION: According to a parking assisting method, parking trial of a vehicle is recognized(S310). A parking possible area is searched from a photographed image(S320). It is judged whether it is possible to park the vehicle in the parking possible area obtained through the searching(S330). When it is judged to be possible to part in the parking possible area, an expected travelling trace line for parking assisting is generated and is overlaid on a display part(S340).
