PURPOSE: A traffic lane recognition improving system using a front image and a side image of a vehicle and a method thereof are provided to improve performance o fan LDWS system, by increasing traffic lane recognition rate through a virtual lane generation method for a non-detected lane in a front camera image in case of error generation. CONSTITUTION: A traffic lane recognition improving system using a front image and a side image of a vehicle comprises a front photographing unit, a side photographing unit and a control unit. The front photographing unit photographs the front of the vehicle. The side photographing unit photographs the side of the vehicle. The control unit detects a front traffic lane in the photographed image of the front photographing unit, and detects a side traffic lane in the photographed image of the side photographing unit. The control unit generates a virtual traffic lane for a non-detected front traffic lane when the number of detected front traffic lanes is smaller than the number of detected side traffic lanes, and then judges whether the vehicle breaks away from the detected front traffic lane and the virtual traffic lane.
