<p>A portable variable temperature printing system, comprised of separable units that can be used individually or in conjunction for various printing tasks. This includes a temperature-controlled unit which can be hand-held or located in the press and positioning unit, and is configured with positioning channels on a platen (9, Fig. 1), to make it simple to insert specially configured dies or location carriers. The press and positioning unit comprises a base 14 for positioning the substrate, a rear column 17 which houses a drive shaft 19, connected to arms 18, which are configured with a parallel motion linkage arrangement 22 to allow accurate positioning of the temperature-controlled unit. The parallel motion linkage arrangement 22 ensures that the temperature-controlled unit is always parallel to the substrate when fixed to the press and positioning unit with a handle 26 for the application of extra leverage.</p> |
