<p>PURPOSE: An earphone recognition device and a method thereof are provided to increase convenience of use by informing a status of insertion of an ear plug into an ear jack of a device in advance. CONSTITUTION: An external port performs an interface with an earphone. If the external port detects access of the earphone, a processor(322) controls voltage application to an MIC_BIAS end. Although the external port detects release of connection, the processor controls an exceptional process of voltage off. Noise is provided owing to periodic voltage application of the MIC_BIAS due to incomplete insertion of the earphone.
