<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cancer detecting means useful for cancer diagnosis. <P>SOLUTION: There is disclosed a cancer detecting method that uses expression of specific polypeptides as an indicator. The polypeptides are obtained through isolation of polypeptides which combine with antibodies existing in serum derived from cancerous living bodies, by SEREX method using a cDNA library derived from the testicles of dogs and the serum of cancerous dogs. Since the polypeptides react with antibodies specifically existing in the serum of cancer patients, cancers in living bodies can be detected by measuring the antibodies in samples.
