This portable electronic information terminal device is characterized in being provided with: a foldable device main body; an image pickup unit that is provided with an incidence surface, from which light from an object is taken; a fit in section, which is provided in the vicinity of the incidence surface of the image pickup unit; a maintaining section, which maintains a state wherein the device main body is folded; and a fastener, which maintains the state wherein the device main body is folded, and covers the incidence surface of the image pickup unit by fitting in the fit in section when the device main body is folded, said fastener being provided on the device main body.
