<p>#CMT# #/CMT# The device (1) has a plastic housing (2) which is integrated with circuit board (3) arranged with electronic component and cable connections (8a-8e). A sheet consisting of electrically conductive contact element is provided, whose portion is lying outside of the plastic housing for making electrical contact with external conductive element. The contacting element has a portion guided into plastic housing, which is connected to contact segments (10a,10b) directly or associated contact conductively connected to the electronic component and cable shield of cable to the cable connector. #CMT#USE : #/CMT# Electronic device e.g. optical sensor such as barcode reader used in industrial environment. #CMT#ADVANTAGE : #/CMT# The electronic device with minimal design effort and efficient protection against electromagnetic interference can be provided. The effective low-impedance shield terminal is provided for the electronic components and cable connections of electronic equipment system to external conductive element, so that effective protection against electromagnetic interference is obtained. The protective effect is obtained even though the housing of electronic equipment system is made of plastic or non-conductive material. The effective low-impedance shield terminal forms the function earth connection for the components by which protection against electromagnetic interference is obtained, and forms protection earth connection by which protection for persons against electric shock when touching the electronic appliance can be obtained.
