<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water treatment chemical which effectively suppresses the adverse effects of antimicrobial ions on e.g., a container holding contaminated water without detriment to its excellent antimicrobial effects and to provide a method for using the water treatment chemical. <P>SOLUTION: There are provided a water treatment chemical used for the antimicrobial treatment of contaminated water held in a definite place and a method for using the water treatment chemical, wherein the water treatment chemical contains an antimicrobial glass which releases antimicrobial ions and polymer resin particles, and the polymer resin particles contain, for example, at least one member selected from the group consisting a guanidine-type organic compound, a quaternary ammonium salt, an amine oxide, and ammonium chloride as a complexing agent for complexing part of the antimicrobial ions. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
