<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display having a direct type backlight that can reduce power consumption and calorific values while it has uniform luminance of a screen. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display has a plurality of LEDs 41 included in the backlight 4 arranged unevenly so that they may become dense at a central part and sparse at an end side part. The backlight 4 has a plurality of kinds of LEDs 41 with different luminous efficiency and emission spectra, and the LEDs 41 with higher luminous efficiency are arranged at the end side part of the backlight 4. Since volumes of light emission of the LEDs 41 arranged at the end side part are larger as compared with those arranged at the central part of the backlight 4, the luminance on the screen of the liquid crystal display becomes uniform. Further, since the number of LEDs 41 for emitting light is reduced as compared with the case wherein the LEDs are arranged evenly, power consumption is reduced and the calorific value reduced. Furthermore, in the liquid crystal display, difference of colors due to the difference of emission spectra of the LEDs 41 can be reduced by correcting gradation of RGB. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
