<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new anthracene derivative, a new material which can provide blue light emission with good color purity, a light-emitting element using the material, a light-emitting device, and electronic equipment. <P>SOLUTION: A light-emitting element utilizing electroluminescence with high luminous efficiency can be obtained by using a new anthracene derivative in which a carbazole derivative functional group is bonded only to the 9-position of anthracene.
