<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a suspension device suitable for safely shifting a steel plate in a horizontally-placed state into a vertically-suspended state. <P>SOLUTION: The suspension device used for vertically suspending the steel plate S includes: a suspension beam 2 which is suspended by a crane and horizontally extended; two arms 4 which are supported by the suspension beam to be horizontally movable; and an arm moving mechanism 5 which widens and narrows a gap of the two arms by oppositely moving the two arms.
