PARTICLE ANALYSIS IN ACOUSTIC CYTOMETER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide particle analysis in an acoustic cytometer.

SOLUTION: Disclosed is a method for separating particles in accordance with size includes: a step of making particles flow in a flow stream; a step for applying a radial acoustic radiation pressure to the flow stream; and a step of acoustically separating the particles in accordance with size. Disclosed is a device for executing the above-mentioned method. In one embodiment, the device includes: a capillary for making fluid internally containing the particles flow; an acoustic signal generation transducer for acoustically operating the particles; and a flow stop device.
