<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a torque detector which is capable of improving detection capability and detection accuracy while preventing interference of a pair of magnetic yokes, and to provide an electric power steering system including the same. <P>SOLUTION: A torque detector 17 includes: a torsion bar 16 which connects a first shaft 14 and a second shaft 15; a magnet 25 which is fixed to the first shaft 14; and a pair of magnetic yokes 26 which are fixed to the second shaft 15 and oppositely arranged to face each other in an axial direction X1. Each of the magnetic yokes 26 includes a yoke ring 40 and a plurality of teeth 41 which are arranged in the circumferential direction at the yoke ring 40. The yoke ring 40 includes: an extended part 40A which extends towards the outer side in the radial direction from a root part 41A of the tooth 41; and a fold back part 40B which is folded back towards the axial direction X1 from the outer edge of the extended part 40A in the radial direction.
