The arrangement has an optical device (4) i.e. charge-coupled device camera, for generating an image representing an inner area of a shipment container (1) in which finished goods (2) are arranged. A data processing unit (6) calculates free volume in the container from the image and calculates amount of filling material required for filling the free volume. A filling device (7) or dispenser fills the container with the material in the required amount. A closing device closes an opening of the container, and a conveyor (3) transports the container between the optical and filling devices. The closing device is designed as a box closer. An independent claim is also included for a method for automatic packing of finished goods in a shipment container.
