Disclosed is a method for establishing a multi-protocol label switching (MPLS) protection ring, comprising: receiving a first network element selection instruction of a user, selecting a first network element according to the first network element selection instruction of the user, and obtaining an MPLS protection ring containing the first network element according to the selected first network element; displaying the obtained MPLS protection ring containing the first network element; receiving the MPLS protection ring selection instruction of the user, and selecting and highlighting the MPLS protection ring containing the first network element according to the MPLS protection ring selection instruction of the user; and numbering the network elements in the highlighted MPLS protection ring containing the first network element. The method for establishing an MPLS protection ring provided in the embodiment of the present invention improves the success rate and efficiency of MPLS protection ring establishment.
